1795 Flowing Hair Silver Dollar – 2 Leaves Variety, PCGS XF45 CAC

The 1795 Flowing Hair Silver Dollar is one of the most iconic and foundational coins in U.S. numismatics, struck during the nation's infancy and representing the first official dollar coin ever issued by the United States Mint. This specific variety, known as the "2 Leaves" reverse, is distinguished by the pair of olive leaves beneath the eagle’s wings, a subtle but significant diagnostic that adds to its historical importance and collector appeal.

This coin is graded XF45 by PCGS and proudly bears the CAC (Certified Acceptance Corporation) seal, confirming its superior eye appeal and quality within the grade. With clear detail, even wear, and attractive surfaces, it stands out as an exceptional example of this early Federal issue.

Designed by Robert Scot, the Flowing Hair dollar features a bold image of Liberty with wind-swept hair on the obverse, symbolizing freedom and the youthful spirit of the new Republic. The reverse showcases a small, perched eagle surrounded by a delicate wreath—an early artistic interpretation of national strength and unity.

Struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, the coin weighs 26.96 grams and has a diameter of 39–40 mm. As one of the earliest silver dollars ever produced, it holds tremendous significance in both numismatic history and the story of American independence.

Only a limited number of these coins survive in collectible condition, and far fewer are CAC-approved. The 1795 2 Leaves Flowing Hair Dollar in PCGS XF45 CAC offers a rare opportunity to own a genuine cornerstone of early American coinage, perfect for advanced collectors and historic investors alike.

A LITTLE STICKER MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE.

Within each number of the coin grading scale is a small range of condition from low-end to high-end. Certified coins of the same grade can be of varying quality. Many of today’s collectors want coins that are solid or premium quality for their assigned grade. CAC holds coins to a higher standard so you can be confident in the value of yours. We verify previously graded coins … and award our sticker only to those coins that meet the standard for today’s selective buyer.

WHAT THE CAC STICKER MEANS:

  • Verified. Your coin has been verified as meeting the standard for strict quality within its grade.
  • Guaranteed. CAC stands behind our verification.

THE CAC STICKER IS BACKED BY EXPERIENCE.

CAC was founded by leading members of the numismatic community, including John Albanese, a respected authority on coin grading and the rare coin market.
