2011-W 1 oz Silver Eagle 25TH Anniversary NGC PF70 Ultra Cameo
In 1986, the American Silver Eagle program was begun, and it was an immediate success. It was successful in its first year (1986) and in every year through this current year.   The American Silver Eagle is a beautiful bullion coin. The obverse is modeled after Adolph Weinman’s ‘Walking Liberty Half Dollar’ design, which was minted from 1916 through 1947.  The obverse depicts an allegorical representation of Miss Liberty walking to the left. Her right hand is outstretched in a friendly gesture, while her left arm cradles olive branches. Behind her is a rising and radiant sun, with rays emanating from it majestically. Miss Liberty’s robes are flowing and wrapped around her shoulders  is an American flag. On the upper periphery is the word, “LIBERTY,” in the open field to the right is, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the date resides on the lower periphery under Miss Liberty.  The reverse, which also had not changed since the coin’s inception depicts a heraldic eagle, which was designed by Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, John Mercanti. The eagle is in the center and covering its chest is a shield. Above the eagle are 13 five-pointed stars and the eagle has arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other.   2011 was a special year for American Silver Eagles. It was their 25th year of minting and that was celebrated with numerous different finishes to the 2011-dated coins such as a burnished finish, a proof finish, and a reverse proof finish.   This particular coin is graded as “Proof 70, Ultra Cameo,” by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). On the NGC insert label it also states that this was issued for the “25th ANNIVERSARY.” NGC is one of the most important and respected major, independent, third-party grading services in the world.   The ”Proof 70” grade means that the coin is virtually perfect. The “Ultra Cameo,” designation means that the surfaces are mirrored, and the devices are frosted for a great appearance.  Simply click the “Add to Cart” button now or call to speak to one of our highly trained numismatists, who will be very happy to assist you.
