The American Silver Eagle is one of the most popular bullion coins in the world. Its investment value is high and this newest design marks a new era for this iconic American coin. This stunning First Strike example is PCGS Graded PR70 DCAM (Deep Cameo). History: The 2021 Silver Eagle now features an entirely new reverse design, replacing the original heraldic eagle that was created by John Mercanti in 1986. Now, the design features a dynamic eagle in flight, carrying an oak branch. The obverse image of Liberty is refreshed, but keeps the same traditional design as the original. This Type II 2021 Silver Eagle will be considered a key date in the series, making it even more appealing to collectors and investors. Design: The obverse side features the Walking Liberty design. This design was first developed in 1916 and originally used on the US Mints half dollar. The obverse displays Liberty facing left walking toward the sun on the horizon. Beneath the “TR” the words “In God We Trust” are engraved. On the reverse is a new design of the American bald eagle. The American bald eagle swoops down into view with its wings flexed behind its back and a large oak branch in its talons.
