History
In 1986, the United States Mint created a bullion coin program to compete with other nations’ bullion coins. The US Mint struck gold coins in 1 Troy Ounce, ½ Troy Ounce, ¼ Troy Ounce and 1/10th Troy Ounces as well. They also offered a 1 Troy Ounce American Silver Eagle bullion coin. The market in the United States and worldwide welcomed and bought lots of these coins.
Design
The 2024 American Gold Eagle bullion coins all utilized the same design for all 4 sizes. The obverse of these coins depicts Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ design that the Mint used on the 1907 to 1933 $20.00 Gold Double Eagles.
It depicts Miss Liberty, facing the viewer, holding a torch and an olive branch, standing in front of a rising sun with Washington DC in the background and tiny stars encircling the design around the periphery.
The reverse design displays artist, Jennie Norris’ interpretation of a closeup of the head of an American Bald Eagle. This design was changed to this particular design mid-way through 2021.
The coins are all struck in 22 carat (.9167 Fine Gold), and they have the proper amount of pure gold for each size and denomination.
This particular coin is a 2024-dated American Gold Eagle bullion coin, containing ¼ Troy Ounce of pure gold and it bears a $10.00 denomination.
It has been graded as Mint State 70, which means it is in PERFECT condition.
