The American Silver Eagle is a popular and beautiful silver bullion coin. They were first minted in 1986 as America’s entry into the silver bullion coin marketplace. In the intervening years, they have built a tremendous following both in the United States and across the globe.   Fervently collected, some issues are easily available while a number of issues are very difficult to locate. Ideally, most collectors like to acquire coins that are in very high grade as they typically have the greatest level of price appreciation.   Wisely, the US Mint chose a very popular design, 70 years after it was first struck. The obverse design of these coins is a faithful reproduction of the Walking Liberty silver half dollar design created by Adolph Weinman, which was struck between 1916 and 1947.   The obverse design depicts an allegorical representation of Miss Liberty, covered in flowing robes and an American flag. Her right hand is extended in a greeting of friendship while her left holds olive branches. She is walking to the left and is in front of a rising sun. The word “LIBERTY” was placed on the upper periphery and “IN GOD WE TRUST,” is in the right field.  The date of issue is below.   The reverse design was changed in 2021 from a heraldic eagle to its current design. The new design was created by artist Emily Damstra, who depicted an eagle in flight carrying an oak branch in her talon.   This coin is a 2024-W Silver Eagle bullion coin, struck at the West Point minting facility. It has been graded as “Proof 70, DCAM (Deep Cameo)First Strike” by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). PCGS is one of the oldest and one of the major, independent, third-party grading services. Proof 70 indicates that the coin is in Perfect and unimprovable condition. The “DCAM” designation is given to coins with perfect eye appeal along with frosted devices and mirrored fields giving the coin a ‘black and white’ type of contrast. The further “First Strike” designation is reserved for coins sent to PCGS for grading within 30 days of issuance.   Simply click the “Add to Cart” button now or call to speak to one of our highly trained numismatists, who will be very happy to assist you.
