Just two years after the inaugural striking of the first (1986) American Silver Eagle bullion coins, the US Mint continued to strike more of these coins due to the acceptance by dealers, collectors, and investors as well as by the strong success that all of these coins have enjoyed.  American Silver Eagle coin have, and are continuing to compete, with silver bullion coins from around the world. The coins are struck from newly-mined US silver and each coins is comprised of One Troy Ounce of silver with a purity of .999 Fine.  But that is not the only reason that these coins are popular. They also have a wonderful design that collectors and investors appreciate. The obverse of these coins is a wonderful rendition of Adolph Weinman’s ‘Walking Liberty’ half dollar coins that were struck between 1916 and 1947.   Miss Liberty is the central vignette on the obverse of the coin, and she is shown walking to the viewer’s left. She is clad in flowing robes as the sun rises behind her and on America.  The reverse of the coin was the brainchild of then-Chief Engraver John Mercanti. He used an American eagle, as the central device, a shield covering its body, with its wings upswept and arrows and olive branches in separate talons. Both the obverse and reverse share the mandated inscriptions that are required on all US coinage.   This coin is a 1988 American Silver Eagle bullion coin that has been graded as ‘MS69,’ by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). NGC is one of the world’s most respected coin grading companies and their grades are accepted worldwide. MS69 means that the coin is 1 point away from being PERFECT.  Simply click the “Add to Cart” button now or call 1-866-827-4314 to speak        to one of our highly trained numismatists, who will be very happy to assist you.
