For whatever reason you only allow 5 minutes to setup an account with banking info and to pay. With all the verifications that had to be done it took me 2 phones and at minimum 6 tries....that's annoying. We usually shop with APMEX and everything isn't on a timed rushed situation which makes for a much smoother process.
Introduction
The $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is one of the most celebrated gold coins in United States history. Designed by renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens at the request of President Theodore Roosevelt, the series combines exceptional American coinage artistry with nearly one troy ounce of pure gold. History
The Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle debuted in 1907, replacing the Liberty Head Double Eagle. Its creation was part of President Theodore Roosevelt's effort to elevate the artistic quality of American coinage. The earliest 1907 pieces included the famous High Relief issues, but their demanding production requirements led the U.S. Mint to adopt a lower-relief version that could be struck more efficiently.
Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles were produced from 1907 through 1916 and again from 1920 through 1933 at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints. The earliest coins were struck without the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. Congress required the motto to be restored, and it was added to the reverse during 1908. The number of stars on the obverse also changed from 46 to 48 in 1912 following the admission of New Mexico and Arizona to the Union.
Design
The obverse features a full-length figure of Liberty advancing forward while holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Rays of the rising sun appear behind her, with the U.S. Capitol visible in the background. LIBERTY appears above, surrounded by stars representing the states of the Union, while the date appears at lower right.
The reverse depicts an eagle in flight above rays of the rising sun, accompanied by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and TWENTY DOLLARS. Later issues also feature the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. The coin's edge is lettered E PLURIBUS UNUM, distinguishing it from the reeded edges found on many other classic U.S. gold coins.
