Barnes Longacre
I graduated from Loyola University with a degree in Business Finance and Management and joined Blanchard & Company to help clients build portfolios that combine lasting value with history. I have a special passion for early-date coins, proof coins, Carson City issues, and Civil War-era pieces—coins that carry stories spanning generations.
Numismatics is in my blood. My great-grandfather, J.M. Longacre, served as Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint from 1844 to 1869 and designed some of America’s most iconic coins, including the Liberty Head Large Cent, Seated Liberty dollar, Indian Head cent, and Braided Hair Large Cent. His work inspires my lifelong love of coins that combine artistry, rarity, and historical significance.
I follow John Albanese’s principle: “We’re buying the coin, not the holder,” which guides every client interaction. Among my favorites are the 5 Bechtler 128 Grain AU58 CAC—one of only two known examples—and the 1871-CC $20 Liberty, a Carson City classic.
Outside of work, I’m a devoted New Orleans Saints fan and enjoy downhill skiing, fly fishing, and exploring the culture and cuisine of New Orleans.
