Introduction

90% Silver Quarters offer a convenient way to own historic U.S. coinage valued for its silver content. Each lot contains $1 in face value, equal to four circulated quarters struck in .900 silver. Dates, mintmarks, and individual coin conditions vary based on available inventory.

History

U.S. quarters intended for circulation were struck from an alloy of 90% silver and 10% copper through 1964. Beginning in 1965, rising silver prices led the United States to replace the traditional silver composition with a copper-nickel clad format for circulating quarters.

These circulated 90% silver quarters are commonly valued for their precious metal content and connection to historic U.S. coinage. Because dates vary, individual lots may contain quarters from different years and U.S. Mint facilities.

Design

Design details vary according to the dates included. Circulated 90% silver quarter lots commonly feature Washington Quarters, introduced in 1932 with John Flanagan's portrait of George Washington on the obverse and an eagle with outstretched wings on the reverse.

Because these coins have circulated, individual pieces may exhibit wear, toning, marks, or other characteristics associated with normal use. Specific dates, mintmarks, and conditions are not guaranteed.
