great prices and usually nice random selections

The American Silver Eagle bullion coin program began in 1986. It was very successful due to the price of the coins, their backing by the United States government, and the beautiful designs.
The obverse design was the extremely popular Walking Liberty design. It had been used on our half dollar coinage between 1916 and 1947. This beautiful design was the brainchild of Adolph Weinman, and it was very well-received.
Miss Liberty walks across the coin heading to the viewer’s left. She is wearing flowing robes with an American flag draped across both of her shoulders. Her right hand is extended forward as in friendship, while her left arm clutches bundles of olive branches. The date the coin was minted is displayed on the lower periphery, underneath Miss Liberty and on the upper periphery is the word “LIBERTY.” In the right open field is the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
The reverse uses John Mercanti’s depiction of the Heraldic Eagle design, first used on US Silver Dollars struck between 1798 and 1804. The Heraldic Eagle is a large eagle that has its wings outstretched and pointing upwards. The body of the eagle has a shield, and both of the eagle’s talons are filled. One talon is clutching arrows, and the other is holding an olive branch. Above the eagle are 13 five-pointed stars that are neatly arranged. Adorning the upper periphery are the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” On the lower periphery are the words “1 OZ. FINE SILVER – ONE DOLLAR.”
This coin has been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) and the insert displays the grade – MS69. NGC grades, authenticates, and encapsulates coins and their grading is widely accepted. The MS69 grade means that this coin is only one point away from perfection.
