Great experience. No issues.

Blanchard had the lowest premiums on the silver Eagles and 10oz bars amongst any of the major online dealers. I only wish there were an option to not use USPS - delivery took almost 2 weeks.

Introduction
The 1900 $2.50 Liberty Gold Quarter Eagle is a Proof-only issue struck at the Philadelphia Mint during the final phase of Liberty Head gold production. This example, graded PR67 Cameo+, displays exceptional mirrored fields, frosted devices, and strong visual contrast. With a tiny original Proof mintage of approximately 205 pieces, survivors in Gem Cameo condition represent a rare intersection of preservation, eye appeal, and early 20th-century mint craftsmanship.
History
The Liberty Head Quarter Eagle, designed by Christian Gobrecht, was produced from 1840 to 1907. By 1900, circulation demand for the denomination had largely declined, and production was focused primarily on Proof strikings for collectors.
Proof gold coins of this era were struck in extremely limited quantities using carefully prepared dies and polished planchets, often requiring multiple strikes to fully bring up detail. Over time, many examples were mishandled or lost to cabinet friction, making high-grade survivors especially scarce today.
Design
The obverse features Liberty facing left, wearing a coronet inscribed with LIBERTY. Thirteen stars encircle the portrait, representing the original colonies. Liberty’s hair is finely detailed, with individual strands visible beneath the soft frost typical of late Proof strikes. The overall portrait exhibits strong relief contrast against deeply mirrored fields, enhancing the classic neoclassical aesthetic of Gobrecht’s design.
The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with a shield on its chest, symbolizing national unity. The eagle clutches arrows in the right talon and an olive branch in the left, representing military readiness balanced with peace. Feather detail is sharply defined, particularly across the wing and tail feathers, where frost and reflectivity create strong dimensional separation.
