2004 1 oz Silver Eagle NGC MS69
American Silver Eagle bullion coins have been very popular since they were first struck in 1986. By 2004, these coins were very well-collected and always in demand. The coins were struck in .999 Fine Silver, and each contained One Troy Ounce of pure silver.
The coins had a terrific start due, in large measure, to the US Mint’s decision to use already-popular designs. The obverse mimicked the Walking Liberty half dollar design used on all United States silver half dollar coins dated between 1916 and 1947.
Miss Liberty strides to the viewer’s left. Her right hand extended in a friendly gesture. Her left arm clutches bundles of olive branches, and she is adorned in flowing robes. The date is shown in the lower periphery, underneath Miss Liberty and on the upper periphery is the word “LIBERTY.” In the right open field is the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
The reverse depicts an American Heraldic Eagle design. The eagle has wings stretching upwards. Her breast is covered with a shield and in one talon are arrows and in the other is an olive branch. Above the eagle are 13 five-pointed stars and adorning the upper periphery are the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” On the lower periphery are the words “1 OZ. FINE SILVER – ONE DOLLAR.”
This coin has been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). NGC graded coins are widely accepted and highly desirable die to their consistent and accurate grading. The insert label states that this coin is graded as MS69, which puts it only one point away from perfection.
