2007-W 1 oz Silver Eagle NGC PF69 Ultra Cameo

The 2007-W American Silver Eagle is a great American Silver Eagle bullion coin. It is not a common coin from this series. First sold in 1986, American Silver Eagle coins are highly desirable and important bullion coins for the United States Mint. 

Unlike the typical bullion coins, this is a proof coin that was struck for collectors. The mintage is considerably lower than the 2007 bullion coins. The design for both the Proof and Uncirculated coins is exactly the same. The obverse design is a faithful reproduction of Adolph Weinman’s ‘Walking Liberty’ design.  

Weinman’s design depicted Miss Liberty walking to the left. Her right hand is outstretched, and her left is cradling olive branches. Miss Liberty is wearing flowing robes, and the sun rises behind her. Above  Miss Liberty is the word “LIBERTY.” On the right side field is “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the current date of striking is below. 

The reverse of the American Silver Eagle coin utilizes a Heraldic Eagle design. There is an eagle in the center, its wings raised and outstretched. In its talons are arrows in one and olive branches in the other. Above the eagle are 13 stars and on the upper periphery is the phrase, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” and on the lower periphery is “1 OZ. FINE SILVER  -  ONE DOLLAR.” 

The coin is graded as ‘Proof 69, Ultra Cameo.’ It has been graded as such by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). NGC is a major, third-party grading service. Its opinions of grade are well-respected worldwide. The  ‘Proof 69’ grade means this coin is one point away from being perfect while the ‘Ultra Cameo’ designation means that there is great contrast between the mirrored fields and the frosted devices.  

This coin is a 2007-W American Silver Eagle. The ‘W’ mintmark indicates that it was minted at the West Point minting facility.
