Introduction
The 2025 1C Omega Privy Gold 24-Karat Lincoln Cent #81 graded PCGS MS69 CAC is one of just 232 gold cents produced for the historic final Omega Cent sets. Struck in .9999 fine gold at the Philadelphia Mint, this nearly flawless Mint State example represents the first 24-karat gold cent officially produced by the U.S. Mint. CAC approval recognizes its quality and eye appeal within the assigned MS69 grade.
History
In 2025, the U.S. Mint marked the conclusion of circulating one-cent coin production with a special group of Omega Privy Lincoln Cents. Only 232 three-coin sets were created. The number recognizes the 232 years in which the United States produced cents beginning in 1793.
Each set contained a Philadelphia-struck copper-plated zinc cent and a Denver-struck copper-plated zinc cent. The third coin was a special Philadelphia-struck Lincoln Cent produced in 24-karat gold. All three coins feature an Omega privy mark, using the final letter of the Greek alphabet to symbolize the conclusion of circulating cent production.
Only 232 examples of the 24-karat gold Omega Cent were struck. The issue is especially significant as the first 24-karat gold cent officially produced by the U.S. Mint. This PCGS MS69 CAC example belongs to Set #81 of the individually numbered Omega sets.
Design
The obverse features Victor David Brenner's portrait of Abraham Lincoln, first introduced on the Lincoln Cent in 1909. The inscriptions include IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, and the date 2025. The Omega privy mark distinguishes the coin as part of the historic final-cent program.
The reverse features the Union Shield design introduced on the Lincoln Cent in 2010. The shield symbolizes the preservation of the United States as a single nation. E PLURIBUS UNUM appears above, with ONE CENT below.
