Design

The obverse of the 1 oz Silver American Eagle features Lady Liberty draped in the American flag, walking gracefully toward the rising sun while carrying branches of laurel and oak, representing strength and peace. The reverse displays a detailed depiction of a bald eagle preparing to land, designed by artist Emily Damstra, replacing John Mercanti’s original heraldic eagle. Each coin measures 40.6 mm in diameter, weighs one troy ounce, and carries a face value of one dollar. Combining classic imagery with modern minting technology, the Silver Eagle remains one of the world’s most beautiful and widely collected silver coins.
