I set up an account with wire transfer information to expedite purchasing and now none of my w/t information has been retained. Had to call several times to get information on my order. Even after the product was delivered it showed as still on order. The only reason I got this email is because your company never showed the order as delivered. Ryan helped me out, but it took numerous phone calls to understand what was going on with my order.
Introduction
The 1854-O $3 Indian Princess represents one of the scarcer early issues in the U.S. three-dollar gold series and a significant branch-mint strike from New Orleans. Graded PCGS XF45 with CAC approval, this example displays strong remaining detail, original surfaces, and solid visual appeal for the grade. As an early gold issue from the first year of the series, it holds strong demand among collectors of classic U.S. coinage.
History
The $3 gold denomination was introduced in 1854 to improve efficiency in commerce and facilitate the production of coinage aligned with postal rates and bulk gold transactions. Despite its practical intent, the series saw limited circulation and modest demand, resulting in relatively low mintages throughout its lifespan. The 1854-O issue is especially important as an early branch mint production from New Orleans during a period of expanding Southern coinage. Survivorship in problem-free, high-end circulated grades is limited, and CAC-approved examples are especially desirable for their verified quality within grade.
Design
The obverse features Liberty as the “Indian Princess,” designed by James B. Longacre, wearing a feathered headdress with “LIBERTY” inscribed on the band. “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” encircles the portrait.
The reverse displays a wreath composed of cotton, corn, wheat, and tobacco encircling the denomination “3 DOLLARS,” symbolizing the agricultural foundation of the United States in the mid-19th century. The reverse also includes the date “1854” and the “O” mintmark for New Orleans, confirming its branch-mint origin.
