shopping went well, on checkout, i tried to Place Order and it kept going towards the top of that section. on my computer it did NOT show the red banner about 'read and accept' so my time to order timed out the first time. next time, i scrolled the entire page and saw the red banner.

Introduction

The 1903 $5 Liberty Half Eagle in NGC PF67 Cameo with CAC approval represents a pinnacle of American numismatic excellence. With extraordinary preservation, deeply mirrored fields, and bold frosted devices, this Proof Liberty Half Eagle showcases elite craftsmanship from the U.S. Mint’s golden age of coinage. As one of the finest known survivors of its type, this stunning specimen offers a rare opportunity for collectors seeking museum-quality pre-1900-era gold in a prestigious proof format.

History

The Liberty Head Half Eagle series, designed by Christian Gobrecht, was struck from 1839 to 1908 and served as a cornerstone denomination in America’s early gold economy. By 1903, proof gold production at the Philadelphia Mint was extremely limited, typically reserved for dignitaries, collectors, and special presentations. With very low original mintages and high attrition rates, surviving proof Liberty Half Eagles are scarce in any condition. Examples certified at the PF67 level, particularly those earning the coveted CAC endorsement, represent the highest echelon of rarity, quality, and eye appeal.

Design

The obverse features Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed with LIBERTY, surrounded by 13 stars and the date below, rendered in razor-sharp proof detail with frosted devices and deep mirror contrast. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield, clutching arrows and an olive branch, and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST above. Struck in 90% gold and 10% copper, weighing 8.359 grams and measuring 21.6 mm in diameter, this Proof Cameo example exhibits exceptional clarity, mirror depth, and cameo contrast. With its remarkable preservation and CAC-verified quality, this 1903 Proof Half Eagle stands among the finest representatives of classic U.S. gold.

A LITTLE STICKER MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE.

Within each number of the coin grading scale is a small range of condition from low-end to high-end. Certified coins of the same grade can be of varying quality. Many of today’s collectors want coins that are solid or premium quality for their assigned grade. CAC holds coins to a higher standard so you can be confident in the value of yours. We verify previously graded coins … and award our sticker only to those coins that meet the standard for today’s selective buyer.

WHAT THE CAC STICKER MEANS:

  • Verified. Your coin has been verified as meeting the standard for strict quality within its grade.
  • Guaranteed. CAC stands behind our verification.

THE CAC STICKER IS BACKED BY EXPERIENCE.

CAC was founded by leading members of the numismatic community, including John Albanese, a respected authority on coin grading and the rare coin market.
