Introduction
The 2025 Gold Omega Lincoln Cent #44 graded PCGS MS69 CAC is one of just 232 24-karat gold Lincoln cents produced by the United States Mint to commemorate the end of circulating cent production. Created specifically for the historic Omega sets, this coin represents the first 24-karat gold Lincoln cent produced by the U.S. Mint. This example originated from numbered Omega Set #44 and was graded near-perfect MS69 by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) with CAC approval.
History
In 2025, the United States Mint brought circulating cent production to an end after more than two centuries of American one-cent coinage. To commemorate the conclusion of the denomination, the Mint created 232 numbered three-coin Omega sets. Each set contained a Philadelphia copper-plated zinc cent, a Denver copper-plated zinc cent, and a special 24-karat gold Lincoln cent, all bearing the Omega privy mark.
Only 232 gold Omega cents were struck, making the coin an exceptionally limited issue in the history of the Lincoln Cent. The Greek letter Omega was selected as a symbol of finality, connecting the special issue directly to the conclusion of circulating U.S. cent production.
This coin originated from Omega Set #44 of 232. The complete set included a 2025 Philadelphia Omega Cent graded PCGS MS64 RD CAC, a 2025-D Omega Cent graded PCGS MS65 RD, and this 2025 Gold Omega Cent graded PCGS MS69 CAC. Its numbered provenance preserves its connection to the original three-coin set created by the U.S. Mint.
Design
The obverse features Victor David Brenner's right-facing portrait of President Abraham Lincoln. The inscriptions IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, and the date 2025 surround the portrait. The Omega privy mark appears behind Lincoln's shoulder, distinguishing the coin as part of the special final-cent series.
The reverse features Lyndall Bass' Union Shield design, introduced to the Lincoln Cent series in 2010. The shield symbolizes Lincoln's preservation of the United States as a unified nation. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and E PLURIBUS UNUM appear above, while a banner across the shield carries the denomination ONE CENT.
