History

The American Gold Eagle series debuted in 1986 following the passage of the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985. Since its introduction, the series has become one of the most recognized and widely collected gold coin programs in the world. The 2026 issue commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
