Introduction
The 1910 $5 Indian Head Half Eagle graded PCGS MS63 and approved by CAC is a premium example of one of the most distinctive designs in U.S. gold coinage. With attractive luster, sharp details, and verified quality, this coin appeals to collectors seeking both historical importance and visual strength.
History
The Indian Head Half Eagle was introduced in 1908 as part of President Theodore Roosevelt’s initiative to elevate the artistic quality of American coinage. Designed during a transformative era, the series marked a bold departure from traditional raised designs. The 1910 issue reflects continued strong production during the early 20th century, while CAC approval confirms the coin’s solid standing within its grade.
Design
Designed by Bela Lyon Pratt, the obverse features a Native American headdress portrait of Liberty rendered in an incuse format, where the design is recessed into the coin’s surface. The reverse displays a standing eagle perched on a bundle of arrows with an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace. The MS63 grade indicates strong eye appeal with only moderate marks consistent with mint-state preservation.
